Hilltop is a barn dedicated to making riding a joy for both horse and rider. We pride ourselves on helping our students to become riders a horse can understand. This develops into team work driven by trust, communication and respect.
Our summer camp is an opportunity for students to spend five consecutive days at the barn. We have developed games and activities that encompass learning "all things horse" while having FUN, FUN, FUN. Each day the students will play, create, groom, and ride. We have a variety of horses we use for our Equestrian Week and each student will be encouraged to ride as many horses as they are able throughout the week. At the end of the week, we present a show for our student's family and
friends. The show will demonstrate what students have
learned, how they are communicating with their horses,
the craftwork we have created and the pride we have in our
Equestrian Week is developed and overseen by Stephanie
Sommer. As well as being a teacher with specialist degrees in
Special Education, Stephanie has been a rider since childhood
and has been a proud supporter of all things at Hilltop for over
12 years. She has taken courses with the Ontario Equestrian
Federation on the art of coaching and developing lesson plans
for equestrians. Stephanie rides under the tutelage of
Pam MacGregor, Hilltop's owner. Pam's horse knowledge riding
ability and coaching techniques are beyond compare.
Our Summer Camp is a wonderful opportunity for your child to feel the thrill of making friends, being a "barn kid" and connecting with horses. We only allow 10 students per camp week. This allows us to focus on the specific needs and strengths of your child while fostering their love of horses.
We would be proud to have your child as our student!
